This week

This week we're reverting to having a couple of paler beers to go alongside a cracking porter.
From Glastonbury Ales we have their American Pale Ale and what a fabulous pint it is. Feels like we're hanging onto the last rays of summer sunshine with this one.
Making a return from a long long time ago is Blonde from Cerne Abbas Brewery. This blonde / golden ale is one of my favourites from the Dorset brewery that is so easy to drink. Be interesting to see which comes out on top between these two.
Lastly, all the way from the Midlands, we have King Korvak's Champion Porter by the Fownd Brewing Company This is a really smooth porter with some subtle flavours and ought to be popular with our dark ale drinkers.
Sunday sees the last in our October series of quizzes and the race for the big monthly prize is really close with only 3 1/2 points separating the top two teams. We had brand new quiz winners last week so can anyone else step up and claim the last weekly prize on offer?
And lastly, if you're going to the Devon Derby tomorrow night and fancy a pint beforehand or a takeaway for the train journey then pop in. A lot of the pubs around the ground will be closed before the game so it could be your best opportunity to grab a beer!!

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the modern railway and to promote tourism in Axminster, the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership have created some really cool postcards for people to collect and turn into bigger prizes.

This is the one for The Ale Way and there are different ones for Railway Kitchen and the Station.

Pop down to start your collection and for details of how the promotion works.
